Zeiss Ikonta Serial Numbers
- Carl Zeiss Oberkochen. Part of the serial number sequence of lenses made by Zeiss after World War II at Oberkochen/ West Germany Serial nº Year 10,000-500,000.
- This exceptionally beautiful and good Super Ikonta with serial number X 22354 dates back to 1955. It is the last model of this legendary Super Ikonta in post-war version with a Zeiss Opton-Tessar 80 mm/f2, 8 with serial number 1113265 in Synchro Compur shutter. This camera has the characteristic turning wedge rangefinder.
- The serial numbers don't quite line up on the chart for Carl Zeiss Jena lenses for 1938, but I think that may be a bit of a typo. However going by the chart and making an assumption on my part, I would say it looks like the date of manufacture might be approximately 1938 +/- a year or two. The camera maybe older than I thought.
- First - I need help identifying the camera. From what I can read it’s an Ikonta 521 with a serial number on the side N49834. The lens seems to be a Novar Klio 1:6.3 f/7.5cm. Does someone have some insight about the model and period? I read there were A,B,C model but I can’t figure which one it is. I would say A if I had to guess.

And there is what looks like a serial number of 0 88603. Zeiss Ikon cameras typically used their own in-house lenses on their top of the line. Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 520 by bokuwanihongasuki, on Flickr The camera is taking 6x4.5 cm pictures on 120 film. The model numbers began with a 530 series and followed by the 531, 532, 533, & 534 series. The final Super Ikonta folders were the Super Ikonta III and Super Ikonta IV. Both were in 6x6 format and had the advantage of a film winding mechanism which allowed the film to be advanced without having to watch numbers in red windows. ), I would be happy.
